THE GOOD BOY

A deep revealing narrative that is sure to engage your minds. The reality is starkly frightening and sad; most times. This creative piece was contributed by Onus Obinyan,The Word Magician.

He was the good boy of the village
You could vouch for him
Even stake your life
The soil was his love
Then his best friend returned
Changed, sophisticated and wealthy
Respected by all
His money talked
Even the elders spoke in tongues
The good boy tired of this
He had to leave
In the bustle of the city, he hustled
Oppressed daily, by sight
He heard the call
The instructions were clear
‘No food, No drinks
Meet with destination
Recall the swallowed
Reward is instant’

The Hostess was so stunning
He took a shot off the short man of France
It burned its way down
Logging into destination
Regurgitation became a dream
A dream so hazy
A total recall became impossible
Explosions occurred within
Revealing the contents of bowel
Intestines and all
The lungs, perforated
Vocal chords denied function

The death he dies is silent
He drowned in the blood within
It’s being six years since he left
Mama passed on two years ago
Papa is half blind now
Yet he waits
He waits for his wealth
The wealth of the good boy
